Well, $413 to be exact. Of course, the answer is...it depends. Just like how some people think traveling is expensive, and wonder how we could afford traveling the world (while still being financially savvy).
Here are two separate round-trip flight tickets I booked recently, costing approximately $400 each.
Round-trip between Huntsville and Tampa. Total miles flown - 1,102 miles. Total cost - $413.
Round-trip between New York and Malaysia/SG. Total miles flown - 20,143 miles. Total cost - $413.
20 times the distance, but for the exact same price!!
(Now imagine how much money these airlines make from US domestic flights)
Given the same flight cost, I would much rather go to a beach in Southeast Asia than Florida.
Better still, all other expenses would be cheaper once you get to Southeast Asia anyway. =P
Just to clarify, the flight to Malaysia/Singapore wasn't even an 'error fare'. It was a legit normal flight that I found on Google Flight. As seen on the graph above, the price for this exact same flight has since gone up. My two cents - Plan ahead and be flexible with your plans! =)
